19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The athlete, a former number one, has had a torrid season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
His varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.
Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought competitive victory over challenger Moutet.
It is the player's first title after the Italian tournament and first on a hardcourt from March of that year.
Success also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.
"This championship is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six championship matches, including in the German tournament earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was over.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an improved service.
The champion came back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, taking four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.
The pair exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a competitive third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
